The 5 most important reasons why you shouldn't miss salah

Salah (Namaz) is an Arabic word that means “worship”, a significant act of worship that is mandatory for every Muslim above baligh (maturity) age.

Salah plays an important role in Islam, In this guide, we will explore salah and its benefits, including the meaning of salah, and when to be performed.

A person's prayer will be the first thing judged on the day of judgement, if it is good then he will succeed, if it is defective then he will lose.

Salah is the practical sign of obedience to the commands of Allah (Subhanahu Wa ta'ala), it helps us to refrain a person from evil deeds and bad habits.

Through Salah, we can ask for his guidance, stay close to him and let him know everything that is going on in our lives.

Salah is one of the pillars of Islam and it must be performed five times a day; before dawn, noon, afternoon, sunset and nightfall, that we need to perform daily at their specified times

  1. Salat al-Fajr - dawn, before sunrise
  2. Salat al-Zur - after the sun passes its highest
  3. Salat al-Asr -  late in the afternoon
  4. Salat al-Maghrib - just after sunset
  5. Salat al-Isha - between sunset and midnight

These prayers are compulsory for all individual Muslims. There are many other prayers, that they can perform individually for their own benefit.

A call to prayer is given before every prayer, known as adhan. Each prayer consists of a number of raqqah, which follow throughout the day.

  • Fajr - 2 raqqah
  • Zur - 4 raqqah
  • Asr - 4 raqqah
  • Maghrib - 3 raqqah
  • Isha - 4 raqqah

A Muslim can perform voluntary prayers in the form of nafil and sunnah.

There are many other prayers in Islam, like Namaz-e-Mayyit which is performed at janaaza funeral, and Namaz-e-Eid which is performed twice yearly Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha, Namaz-e-Taraweeh which is conducted every evening during the Holy month of Ramadan after Isha.

Below I have mentioned a few sayings of Prophet Muhammed (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) regarding the importance of prayer.

Abdullah bin Qurt reported: “First, a slave will be asked about his prayers on the Day of Judgment. In the same way that his prayers are good, so will his other deeds be good. His prayers will reflect the quality of his other deeds.”

Jabir lbn Abdullah (r.a) reported:- “The difference between faith and unbelief is abandoning prayer”.

By offering Salah (Namaz) five times during the day and night, we are cleansed of sins in the same way that washing our bodies multiple times during the day and night removes all impurities.

Allah Almighty stated in the Holy Quran about the Salah: “O you who believe! Ask Allah for help in patience and As-Salat (the prayer). In Fact! Allah is with As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.).”

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said: “Salah (Namaz) is the key to enter Jannah; Salah is accessed through wudu (ablution).”

You see, praying is not just about prostrating or standing up again after prostrating but there are many benefits to this practice that most people are unaware of,

Benefits of Salah

Benefits of salah (prayer) that you should know about if you aren’t already practising it regularly.

  • Salah keeps away saithan
  • Salah strengthens the heart
  • Salah keeps us away from harmful things
  • Salah increases one’s physical strength
  • Salah is the nourishment for the soul
  • Salah brings on blessings from Allah (Subhanahu Wa ta'ala)
  • Salah delight the soul
  • Salah gets rid of laziness
  • Salah makes the limbs active
  • Relives back pain and joint pain

  • It increases your faith and belief in Allah

Salah is one of the pillars of Islam and an important practice in our religion. It increases your faith and belief in Allah.

Prophet Muhammed (peace and blessing upon him) reported: “Faith wears out just like clothes, so ask Allah to renew your faith”.

Tip increase your faith and belief in Allah

  1. Perform salah (Namaz)

It is believed that Salah is the second most important part of the faith after Shahada, where Shahada is the most important aspect of the faith.

Salah, which is one of the most important acts of faith, must have a very strong connection to Islam since it is a very important act of faith.

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing upon him) says: “Prayer is the covenant between us and them, so whoever abandons it is considered as a disbeliever”

So let us promise to ourselves that we shall not leave a prayer till the last day of our life! Inshallah.

      2. Recitation of the Quran

Allah says “You have been given the Quran so you can contemplate its verses and remember them.”

Thus, the better way to increase faith is to recite Holy Quran regularly and make us blessed.

  •  It has some physical benefits as well

When we offer Salah, our bones and joints get exercise, which reduces our chances of getting arthritis.

Regularly praying salah reduces cholesterol in our bodies. Cholesterol causes heart failure, stroke, diabetes and many more.

Salah movements regulate blood flow to all parts of the body. As an example, the Ruku position regulates upper body blood flow and the Tashahhud position regulates lower body blood flow.

  • It helps you stay away from sin and evil

By offering Salah (Namaz) five times during the day and night, we are cleansed of sins in the same way that washing our bodies multiple times during the day and night removes all impurities.

The Prophet (peace and blessing upon him) then said, “That is like the five daily prayers: Allah wipes away the sins by them.”

Certain prayers remind Muslims of their sins and cause them to seek forgiveness.

This makes Muslims feel guilty and causes them to seek forgiveness as soon as their sins are committed.

We build a strong defence against evil through Salah. It is for this reason that the prayer in the Quran is described as a remembrance of Allah (Subhanahu Wa ta'ala).

  • It strengthens your relationship with Allah

Salah (Namaz) is an act of communicating directly with Allah, the Almighty. It takes us one step closer to Him and reminds us of our true purpose in life.

Through prayer, one develops patience, humility, and sincerity, as well as a deep connection with God

Where we connect directly to Allah through prayer.

  • It teaches you self-discipline.

A person who prays automatically aspires to be a better person through his/her actions.

The discipline learned in prayer should also be acquired in life.

We don't look around when praying. In the same way, we should control our eyes outside, so they do not fall on forbidden things.

It is like we use our tongue to praise Allah, we should not use it to backbite or lie outside of formal prayers.

Conclusion

Do you know what Salah is equated to? Salah is equated to success ‘Come to Prayer, Come to success”.

It is impossible to ask for success when you cannot even manage your time to perform Salah.

If you want to understand why you are experiencing delays in your sustenance, in your marriage, in your work, and in your health, you should look at your Salah. Are you delaying it?

I pray Allah Subhanahu Wa ta'ala to make us punctual in our prayers and grant us tawfeeq to never miss or delay our daily appointment with Allah.
